Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

To order your repeat prescription, please keep the counterfoil from your prescription and tick the items required. You can then do one of the following:

  • using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
  • using the GP online system – Patient Access
  • Drop it in to the surgery
  • Post it with a stamped addressed envelope if you want it posted back to you.

Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration prior to using the service.

These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6.30pm

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.

Please allow at least seven days for your prescription to be ready.

We are issuing all prescriptions via EPS which is an electronic service. Your prescription will go straight to your nominated pharmacy for collection. If you haven’t already, please nominate a chosen pharmacy by noting this on your next request. To find your local pharmacy please click here.

To change or cancel your nominated pharmacy, speak to the reception team at the surgery or alter via the NHS app.

If you are on repeat prescriptions, dispensers will also see all the items on your re-order slip.

We can still send you messages via your repeat prescriptions including any medication reviews that may be due. These messages are sent to the pharmacy with your prescription and the pharmacist will tell you of any messages.

If your medication review is due, our reception team may contact you to make an appointment with a nurse. You do not need to see a doctor for a medication review.

Collecting your prescription

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

Please use online services to request your prescriptions. Either use your existing online service. If you do not currently have access to online services. The NHS app can be set up from home without the need to attend the surgery to register for this service. You can also send your prescription requests to hiowicb-hsi.northbaddesleysurgery@nhs.net

If you have a query about your medication, please complete an online consultation. If you are unable to please phone reception on 023 80743 400 for more advice.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
